We'll be honest, as the wives of two Michigan natives, we were already HUGE Curtis Granderson fans from his days as a Detroit Tiger. While we respected him before as a player who conducts himself with class on and off the field, we now have a whole new level of respect and admiration for him as a person.
As children growing up we often look up to those professional athletes who deliver on the field. As a three-time All-Star, pennant winner in both leagues and member of baseball's exclusive 20-20-20 Club, Granderson is without a doubt an all-star on the field; however, he is also a hero off the field. Not only has he been giving back to his community for years through his Grand Kids Foundation's Grand Giving Initiative, this season he has teamed up with Per Diems Against Poverty to help us feed Americans struggling with hunger by donating his $10,000 per diem to Feeding America food banks serving millions of Americans across five of the largest cities in America.
