#GivingTuesday Gives Hope to Millions

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, and Per Diems Against Poverty wants to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to make a difference in his or her community. In case you're not familiar with #GivingTuesday, please take a moment to learn more about this day of compassion and giving.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the potential of social media and collaboration among the nonprofit community. It is observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the HUGE shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It kicks off the charitable season when many people focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that honors and supports giving and generosity with events throughout the year.

#GivingTuesday utilizes social media and the kindness of people around the world to bring about tangible change in their communities. Although our primary source of funds used to fight domestic hunger is per diems, we encourage the donation of time, resources, and talents to fight food insecurity in communities nationwide. It combines the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.
